Problem with Intel DQ45CB and PCIe cards

Hello,
i have a DQ45CB and i've plugged in it a HP SA P400 PCIe SAS RAID card, and my surprise comes that the board does not initialize the card at all, it isn't even selectable in the BIOS boot order.

So i tested with a HP SA E200, same. A LSI 3442, same. A HP NC110T GB NIC, same.

i've flashed to the latest bios(0073) and the problem remains(of course the cards have all the latest FW).

in another old board, a Intel D945GCCR, they init succesfully(show their banners, setup key-press, etc), can be selected for boot, everything.

Speaking with intel chat is like talking to a wall, but dumb, all i get is crap about pcie2.0 not being compatible with 1.0 and those cards not being GPUs and all kinds of useless stuff...
(for the record, i have plenty experience in server/system building and troubleshooting, is what i do for a living after all)

The problem is the BIOS of the board not initializing the expantion card firmware(no banner showing, nothing) and i also suspect that horrid Intel Management Engine BIOS has something to do with it(and there's no way to disable it)

Now, does ANYONE has a way to contact some validation/BIOS engineer at Intel?, it seems the normal method of contacting support does not work anymore as one is treated like a joe janitor with no knowledge of anything.

AAAND as usual, the problem is quite urgent as i have to deliver these "mini server" systems quite soon...

Thanks for whomever can extend a helping hand

Hi Eliminateur,

Was just wondering if you ever got to the bottom of this as I have exactly the same issue.

Cheers,

The PCI Express x16 slot on this (and similar) board is not intended to support non-graphics cards, due to design of Intel's PEG interface on IGD chipsets up to GM45. The HP SAS card is intended to be used only in HP servers. Where's the mystery?

Try looking in the BIOS for an option named "PEG Force x1" and set to enable. This may get your SAS card working...in PCI-E x1 mode only.
