Problem with IE and temporary internet files

I thought the issue was limited to just .zip and .torrent files, but its even happening with media like .avis. Upon clicking to open a file off the internet rather than clicking to save it somewhere, once its downloaded its not registering as being saved in temporary internet files I think (windows media player for example tells me the file can't be found). Whereas if I click to save it somewhere, then it saves to that location and I can double click the file to open. I've tried changing my temporary internet files folder around to different locations, and clearing out the temporary internet files folder, and playing with the amount of space allocated to the folder, but still same problem. Anyone have any idea?

How to fix download problem by folder/file extension:

Start/Ctrl Panel/Folder Options/File Types/[?Zip? ?Compressed (zipped) folder?]/Advanced/ ?Check the box ?Confirm open after download?

Lil problem, the advanced button isn't there when I need it to be, its a 'restore' button instead. I want to use winzip to be able to open zip files, but it seems like the only way i can get an advanced button there is to restore it, but that sets it back to windows handling it.
