Problem with IE and temporary internet files

If I go to click on a torrent link for example, and just click open instead of save as, I'll immediately afterwards get the error message "Cannot find file xxxx.torrent in yyyyyy" where y is my temporary internet files folder, c:\documents and settings\[name]\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5\somecodeword\. Or, lets say I click on opening a .zip file off the net. When it finally finishes downloading, its empty, seeming to indicate it can't find it either.
Anyone know what's up with this or how to fix it? I think the problem is that within the temporary internet files folder, i don't have a \content.ie5\codeword subdirectory, and it might be trying to save there when it can't?
