Problem with HP Laserjet 5L

Here's the problem:

I tried to print an overhead. The transparency went in, but it's jammed. If you know the inside of the 5L, after you take out the toner, there's nothing else you can take out.
The overhead transparency is jammed under the part where it prints.... I can't see it but I know it's there... I tried printing... and I can hear the rollers and crunching plastic sound. The paper will feeed in but when it comeso ut, the ink is wet and smeared...

Anyone know how i can get it out? I am unable to print right now....

You could unscrew the casing (the pack molding behind the toner). But if you don't reassemble it properly......

If you don't want to blow $$ on a new laser printer, take it to your local repair center. 🙁

EDIT: Did you use transparency that was specifically designed for use with a laser printer?

I'm not sure.... it might not have been.....

If I open it up, is it difficult to put back together?

I did it once with the same printer. I got it back together but I don't think I did it properly. The printer still works (it wasn't mine though.) If it were mine, I would take it in for service.

Well I would take it in for service but how much do you think it would cost? I don't have that much extra money to blow...

I'm sure a lot more than you should pay. That's how repairs work though. :disgust:

Maybe call your local CompUSA or something and ask for an estimate on clearing a paper jam on your LJ 5L
