Problem with headphones

This has happened to many headphones. After using them for a while, the balance is lost, and the voice output can be heard from only one side, either left or right. This has happened to a lot of the headphones I have used.
Does anyone knw the reason why this happens, and if so the possible solution to fix it..
This morning I had a new pair of headphones, and I was listening. I paused the music, and after a while put it back on. And the balance in output was only one-sided..

I am getting tired of replacing headphones...
