Problem with hard drive with Gigabyte 8irxp

I have the Gigibyte 8irxp and 2 IBM hard drive ,40GXP and 60GXP ATA 100 hard drives. One is set as the master and the other is set as the slave on the promise raid controller. In the cmos I have the raid set as SCSI. I also have the lastest Bios F6. The promise controller sees the 60GXP but windows XP dosn't. If I hook up the 60GXP to the primary IDE controller then windows will see it. I have to to be missing something. Anyone got any ideas.

do you have the promise drivers loaded for winxp?

Yep I have the promise drivers loaded for XP. It's just one of those little problems that is about to drive me nuts. It's strange that it will not show up in XP when it is attached as a 2nd drive either a slave or as a master drive on the other promise IDE connector.
