I use AnyDVD and Handbrake to rip my DVDs to a file on my HTPC. I've been having some problems lately getting it to successfully create a file. It's nothing fancy... I open the disk after AnyDVD has broken it, pick 'super HQ 1080p30 Surround' for quality, bump the codec to H.265... and let it rip. Anymore... it just shows encoding pass 1, encoding pass 2, finished... bam, bam, bam... and does not rip anything more than a tiny 8KB file that does nothing. Everything is updated, and I've been doing that basic procedure for 7 years without problems... but now I'm stumped.

For this problem disc only, give this a try:

Go in to the advanced settings on Handbrake. Under "DVD Reading", check the box for "Disable libdvdnav". Then hit "Ok", and try to rip the disc.

If this works and the disc rips properly, make sure to go in and uncheck that option once Handbrake is finished (if you don't you will have problems with discs that would otherwise be handled properly by Handbrake).

Any time.

The problem is an old known issue with Handbrake itself, and is not a problem with AnyDVD.

Oddly enough, I really haven't had any problems with Handbrake until the last 6 months... I was concerned it was the actual disk in some cases, or the DVD player. I never really thought about AnyDVD being the problem... ;)
