Problem with Guild Wars install

I went out and bought Guild Wars and came home to install it... everything was going good until around the 30% mark. My CD Rom drive started making a really high pitched noise and then I got the BSOD. So I tried it again, checked all my connections and they are fine. Other CD's work with no problems. My second attempt got to 33% and just stopped. If I close out the install, my whole computer stops responding. The mouse doesn't move and I can't click anything. Everything just shuts down... what's the problem here? I ran a virus scan and scanned for spyware and all that before I moved on to try it a third time... this time it got to 36% and then froze. This time I closed out the install window and everything disappeared off my desktop. Taskbar, icons, everything. What's going on? Bad disk?😕 I know if it's a bad disk and I try to return it to bestbuy they are going to give me hell. Great...
 
All the icons dissapearing is probably because you crashed exploerer.exe <-bad spelling

Try making an image of the game using Alcohol 120% and see if that works.

EDIT: Wait, shouldn't this be in the software section?

I'd give it 5 minutes at most. What kind of Copy Protection does it use?

Some games that I make backup copies of use SD2/3/4 and other protections, it really dosen't matter, but my CD/DVD drive just takes forever to get through the errors on the disc. Some SD2/3/4 games take 10-15 minutes to read (for me). It's a pain in the ass sometimes.
 
Just download the game. NCSoft allows you to download the client free of charge. youve paid for the game and got the key, so do it that way.
