Problem with grading in a class from last quarter

I was getting 99% in a class entering finals, but my final grade was a 3.7.
So I sent a email to my professor right after I got my grade asking what my final exam grade was.
After a month or a week ago, he replied me saying I got a 95% in it.
That means my final grade is 97%, I don't think it's
So I emailed him asking why I only got 3.7, no reply again.
I am a little pissed right now.
Should I go to the department to file a regrade or should I still wait for his answer?

Send him a note saying that you're going to do X on Y date. And then go do it on Y date, and if he doesn't object, show proof that you're OK.

these are my calculations.

4.0 * .99 = 3.96

3.96 * .95 = 3.762

maybe he didn't like you or (ANY other personal reason) so he bumped you down to a 3.7

if the final is worth less than 50% of your grade than it should be even higher

i never had a final worth more than 35% of a single classes grade before in 4 years of EE

Your math makes no sense. You really need to know the weight of the final

Wf = % weight of the final, [0,1]

Grade = .99*(1-Wf) + .95*Wf
= .99 - 0.04*Wf

Multiply by 4 to get a 4.0 scale
= 3.96 - 0.16*Wf

That means the best you can do is 3.96 (final is worth nothing) and the worst is 3.8 (final is the entire grade) unless the final is magically weighted to be >100%.

I only had 3 classes in college where the final was worth 1/2 of the grade. All of my other classes were 1/3 or less.

Even if it was half of your grade you should have a 3.88, which in no way rounds to 3.7.

Is the class curved? It is quite possible that a lot of people scored higher than you, making your measley 97% an A- instead of an A

Advanced macroecon. I don't think the straight percentage to GPA applies.
My first midterm was 98/10 worth 40%, hw 109/110 worth 20%.
.98*.4 + 109/110*.2 + .95*.4 = .9701818.....

One person got 99 in the midterm, I am the second highest out of a class of 50-60.

My friend got 96 in the first midterm, 100% in the hw, ended up with a 3.9.

He never mentioned how the percentage translated into GPA, but I just feel getting ripped off if 97% is a 3.7. I need this 4.0 in this class to help my chances to get into the eocn grad school. I 4.0 all the other upper level core, and I thought this macro 4.0 is in the bank. I really don't want to start working, I want to stay at school :(

right..... you're funny.

anyway, a running GPA would seem logical.

how is that logicial

suppose he got a has a 2.0 and then gets 100's on everything else

2.0 *1.00 *1.00 *1.00 = 2.0 thus he has to get perfect on everything to maintain a C?

do you not realize that now one would ever use the calculation 3.96 * .95 because if he got a 100 it does not raise his grade at all?

Blind leading the blind here...
100 = 4.0 in college GPA.

i understand that

look at his calculation 3.96 (which was a 99) *.95 which makes no sense whatsoever

i was just showing more examples of what they way he calculates grades would lead too

of course 4.0 is 100 but there is addition and multiplication in there

you can't just straight up multiply it either you have to consider how everything weighted

anyways are you suggesting i replace the 1.0's with 4.0's because that even makes less sense
