Hi all,

I've got a computer system set up with XP professional installed.

I have a 80gb master split into C: 65gb and D: 15gb
and then a E: 20gb slave hard drive in it.

I wanted to put an image of C: onto E: but when I use the
Norton's 2002 ghost floppy boot disk the only drive that it
shows that you can put the image on is the A:\ and the CDRW.
The E: drive isn't even shown.

I installed the program twice but it hasn't made any difference.

Anyone have any ideas at all?

Thanks,
Jim

Could be that it doesn't think it will fit so it doesn't offer you the option???

Are you sure you have the correct boot disk? If I remember right the 2002 CDRW disk is different then the straight IDE only disk.

I made the boot disk myself with the wizard (have done it several times with other machines)
and I only have like 6 or 7 gigs on the main drive so I would assume it would allow it to go on
a 20 gig drive wouldn't it?

I'm certainly no expert on Ghost 2002!

That's why I came here :)

If E: is an NTFS partition, you'll have to upgrade your Ghost. 2002 will not write to NTFS partitions (it will back them up but not write to them); 2003 and later will I believe.

Got ya.........You are right.....both C/D and E are NTFS formatted drives.

I'll go and see if I can find that upgrade.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Ghost 2002 is supposed to read and write NTFS, but it isn't supposed to be able to boot on NTFS partitions.

2003 can do it all.

Thanks for the insight.
I got Ghost 2003 today and it works fine. One thing I like
about 2003 is that you can actually back up while running
windows or you can make a boot disk and boot from the disk
and do it like in 2002.

Works fine with ntfs partitions!
