This info below was a post I posted on another forum. I figured I would paste it all in here so everyone knows where I am regarding the problem and attempts to troubleshoot it.
OK..I think this might be the GeForce doing its pixel shading..but in NT OS's (2000 and XP) the image that I get is a pattern of box type things on the screen that "fill" the textures (I guess). I can't see them at all in Win ME, but in Win 2k and Win XP I can..and it is VERY annoying. Not only do I get the weird box patterns, but I also get some very ugly graininess. Here are the links to the pictures of screenshots of me in Quake 3 RA3. Notice the darker areas and how they have little box type patterns.

Does anyone know what the problem is..or how I can rid of those little patterns? It seems to be Quake 3 specific
but I have tried everything.

This is still bugging me. It makes everything look soooo grainy too. Like their pixel shading is working to aggressivly. Look at the second picture (where the ceiling meets the walls)...turn your brightness down..waaayyy down. This is basically should look like. Then raise your brightness up while still look at the spot on the ceiling (where ceiling meets the walls) and you will see a bunch of boxes fade in. What is causing it?
I have:
installed drivers for monitor (default monitor, plug and play monitor, and the viewsonic a90 drivers.)
I tried 5 different sets of drivers..including 12.41, 12.60, 12.90, 21.81, and 21.85.
I have tried turning gamma off (This works..but it is too dark and I NEED the gamma cranked up a little)
I have tried reinstalling Quake III + RA3 several times.
I have tried turning on/off texturecompression.
I have tried forcing 32 bit color and setting my desktop 32-bit
This problem is specific to Quake 3 I think..does anyone know what could be causing this horrible ppicture? Win Me works great. In fact..I just ghosted back to ME and I'm just amazed at the difference.
Totally Confused
