Hi,

I just got a Gainward Ti200 and installed the hardware and the software. I could change the settings under display properties and also see the card there but it does not properly show up in the device manager ("This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1) To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver."). So Win XP now wants me to install the drivers again and again but it somehow does not work. Everything in 2D is OK but when I try to watch a video or to play a game the screen gets messed up.

T-Bird 1GHz
Asus A7V
512 MB RAM
previous card: Radeon LE

What can I do in order to fix this problem? I wanna play!

Thanks in advance.

Download the 23.11 detonator drivers for Win2000/XP directly from www.nvidia.com and try those. I'd uninstall Gainward's ExperTool utiliity and download something like RivaTuner, NVmax, coolbits, powerstrip, etc. When I got my Gainward, I opened the box, took the card out and forgot about their installation CD.

That's what I did, too. Except I use nvidia's 22.50 drivers, since the 23.xx series ignore your vsync settings, meaning your frame rate is limited to your monitor refresh frequency with those drivers.

I already tried to use the 23.11 detonator drivers. Does not show up under the device manager only under display properties.

When I try to install the drivers via hardware manager, Windows tells me that it can't find the software/drivers although they are there. When I install the Detonator drivers or use the CD that came with the card, the drivers get installed but don't show up in the device manager.
So what else can I do? Do I need to install XP again or is there something else that might work?

It might be easier just to reinstall XP. If you reinstall, DON'T install any VIA drivers other than those that came with XP, and only install the nvidia drivers, not the Gainward drivers or software.

Ok, I just did a fresh install of WinXP and only installed the Detonator drivers.
BUT
I still have the same problem: I can't play games or watch videos.
My new card only shows up in the display properties; in the device manager I get an "error" message for multimedia video controller. :(
That is strange. What else can I do?

Do you get the error for "multimedia video controller" under Dispaly adapters in Device Manager? Or someplace else? Because mine shows up as "NVIDIA GeForce 3 Ti200" under Display adapters, I don't have multimedia video controller anywhere in my Device Manager. That sounds like something left over from the Radeon card. Are you formatting your hard drive before installing XP or just installing it over the original installation?

Yes

I installed it without formating my hard drive. Guess I need to format it now...
How do I backup my Outlook Express?

:( I formated my hard drive, did a fresh install of Win XP, and installed the detonator drivers.
Same result like before.

What can I do? Is there something wrong with the card?

You still see "multimedia video controller" in Device Manager? And you have a legal copy of XP, release 2600?

Try using nvidia drivers 22.50 or 21.83. Some people have had problems with 23.11.

What chipset does the A7V use?

Yes, I still get the same error and yes I do have a legal copy of Win XP Pro.
I really don't know what to do anymore :( Will try to use the older detonators now ...

Something very strange... when I double click on "multimedia video controller" at the device manager it says the location is "PCI Slot 4" but shouldn't it be "AGP"? But then why does it show up correct under display properties?
