problem with fx5200

i have a fx5200, which i am overclocking. It is very cold up in boston, which means that the average temperature never reall goes about 14C, at least in my case. I have been pushing my overclock on my video card for a while now. Unlike my old MX440, which would tell me it wasnt liking the increased mem settings by showing artifacts, the fx just becomes unstable and hangs up games for 10 seconds. I still have not worked out if it is a mem or core setting that is doing this. But the highest i can get for mem is 610 and cor 308. Is this just the ceiling of the 15mn architecture for the core, and outside the range for my ram? or am i doing something wrong?

Cheers Jonathan

That's a pretty steep OC for a 5200, it's a mainstream card. Try lowering the core by about 25-30 MHz, and lowering the memory anywhere from 40-75 MHz. Try that, and see if it resolves your problem, then, you can slowly OC it back up, testing it along the way, then you can get a stable OC.

Overclock the core and memory seperately so you can see where each hits a wall. So for example, set both back to default, then crank the memory speeds up, testing along the way for stability. Once you find the limit for the mem, do the same with the core.
