I have an old MS-6341 that I am trying to get the front case USB ports to work. I did NOT install the front cable when I originally built this system.

The motherboard manual describes the USB2 connection pin layout as follows:

back of motherboard ----- 9 7 5 3 1 front of motherboard
back of motherboard ---- 10 8 6 4 2 front of motherboard

When looking at the motherboard with the processor slot at the top and the PCI slots at the bottom.

The connector wires coming from the case are layed out as follows when the connectors are turn in the same orientation:

delta sign on one edge & 1 on the other edge
delta sign on one edge & 16 on the other edge

There is also a "JWT" above the delta signs on each connector.

So far, I have not been able to get the front USB connectors to read my thumb drive. It is a good drive because it will work on the back ports of this machine and also on ports on other machines.

I have tried several combinations and have not been able to get it to work. If my calculations are correct there are 9 possible orientation combinations. I have not tried them all, but have the most obvious ones.

Is it possible that the front connector wiring for this case is just NOT compatible with the motherboard ??? Especially in light of the fact that the numbering on the motherboard pins go from 1 thru 10 while the pin numbering on the case connectors are showing the numbers 1 & 16.

I just wondering if I would be wasting my time to try all possible combinations.

Thanks.

P.S. - I looked on MSI and I don't see where they have a forum any more !!!
