Problem with fan

I have a compaq V2000 with turion 64 processor, I have noticed lately that the fan has been kicking on more than usual, I have just the stock 256MB of memory could that be why? I know that now the fan comes on more and stays on longer, it was usually a really quite laptop but the fan has become a problem.

Is anyone else experiencing this, any solutions or suggestions?
