Problem with Epox 8hka+

Hey

I just got my Exox 8kha+ and my XP 1800+.

Theproblem is, when i boot the computer, there is no signal to my monitor

I have tried removing the ram, soundcard, harddrives, cd-rom, floppy etc.

My videocard is a Matrox G400 AGP 32MB Dual Head.

I'm using 2 x 256MB Crucial PC2100 DDR-RAM.

Somebody please help med.

Try resetting the CMOS and make sure the video card is fully seated if that does not work I would try the board outside the case to check for grounding problems,also make suer you have the jumper on the board at 133fsb setting.

Make sure your fan header is being used.
If you reset your BIOS it may be looking for a fan on the cpu.
( Ignore this if you don't have a fan on a molex 4 prong plug )

I am not trying to insult your intelligence, but from my experience with teh Matrox dualhead cards--make sure you are plugging the monitor cable into the head that is active by default. The other head only becomes active when you select it in Windows.

What PSU are you using? I had the same problem prior to plopping in a 400W Antec. I knew it was either the PSU or my vid card though, V5 and V3 were giving no response. V5 was giving the BIOS "No Vid Card" beeps, the V3 was just hanging with no video. It seems the 8KHA+ and AXP 1800+ need a good bit more juice even though DDR Ram and the AXP's are supposed to draw *less* power than PC133 and the T-birds, respectively. My 300W worked fine with my A7V133 and 1.4, over-clocked even, but I had to step up to 400W with my new rig. Also, a good 400W is a good idea anyways if you want to over-clock. All my power readings are much better now, with my 3.3, 5 and 12V rails all slightly over spec and they aren't fluctuating like they did with my 300W. Vcore is at 1.84, but it being slightly lower than the Bios setting appears to be normal.

SilverBack: I don't believe you have to have a CPU fan installed for the Epox 8KHA+. From what I understandm, that problem is limited to the MSI offering.

Abit , MSI and I believe Epox with the newest BIOS's do have a shut down if no fan present to protect the cpu.

The MSI board doesn't shut-down, it only alerts at boot. You can simply bypass the alert by pressing ESC. Reading through the pdf manual on the Epox board, it doesn't mention anything about shutting down in the case of fan failure.

Off course, I used the active one. I'm not stupid.

I have had the same damn problem for a whil. I am finally RMAing it because it doesn't work.

I returned it to the wendor this afternoon. I hope the new board will work.

There shouldn't be (hopefully) a bad batch anymore. Just order from a familiar place (and one that is possible so they probably have a new supply) other then a "back corridor" shop where hardly anyone shops except for those familiar with their services.
