Problem with ECS 755-A2 Motherboard

Hey, I got this and the AMD 64 3200+ and when i swapped it with my old mobo/cpu, i had some problems...

first, the monitor never flickers on

and second, i noticed that when i have the ata cables for the hard drives plugged in, the hard drive doesnt get any power and i can't hear it spin up.. but when i unplug the ata cables from the motherboard the hard drives spin and power up normally

needless to say i've switched back to my old motherboard/cpu (asus a7n8x deluxe w/ xp 2100+)

anyone know what i can do to get the new board/cpu running?

let me know if you need any more info

thank!

Check whether the motherboard's Clear CMOS jumper was shipped in the Clear position instead of the Normal position. Your manual will show the location and how to tell which position is which. Good luck 🙂 and be aware (if you weren't already) that swapping motherboards may require a reinstallation of Windows too. There are ways around it if you want to try them. I like to start fresh myself, but then I'm not halfway through HalfLife2 or anything either 😉

thanks for the help, but i fixed it .... i'm stoooooooooopid 😱

i forgot to plug in the atx12v to the mobo... (my old one didnt have it)

🙂

Okay, yeah... you're not that stupid. That is, unless I am too! I got the same combo, made the same mistake. Hit the boards searching for the mobo in tech support to see if anyone else had the problem. Luckily, you did!

Got another issue, though. YHPM
