I recently added a KDS Avitron AV-7TF to my system for dual monitor purposes. It setup fine and works perfectly under Win 98se. However, under Win 2k (I'm dual-booting), the correct wallpaper shows up, buth the screen is garbled, and the pixels blink and change color.
I'm using the ATI Xpert 98 PCI vid card for the KDS and a NVIDIA GeForce 256 AGP for my main monitor.
Win 2k recognized it fine, and installed the correct driver for it. The device manager shows that it is working fine and has no conflicts. I have tried every setting on the Xpert 98.
(every resolution, every refresh rate, 16-32 color)

I checked ATI's website for an updated driver, but it says that the driver is the one on the Win 2k cd. Which is what I have installed.

I cannot figure out why it isn't working properly, when it works fine it Win 98se.

Has anybody had this problem??????

If you need my system specs, here are my main specs:

Pentium 3 @866
128mb
21" Dell FD Trinitron (main monitor)
17" KDS FD Trinitron (second monitor)
Nividia Geforce 256 32mb (main vid card)
ATI- Xpert 98 8mb (second vid card)
40 gig Maxtor Diamond Plus with ATA-66
Soundblaster Live!
DVD Rom
Sony CD-RW
3Com NIC

The IRQ's are fine, no problems with any of the hardware. Like I said, works fine in Win 98se.

Someone please help!!!!!!!!!!

I like Win 2k a helluva lot better than 98.

Thanks

I use 2 monitors with Win 98SE and one of my cards is the ATI that you have (the other is another ATI PCI card too). No prob in 98SE. In Win 2K beta rc2 the duals wouldn't work no matter what - so I never bought the final version. I assumed the drivers weren't compatible. :(

Since my experience with the Win 2K beta I haven't looked into the issue of compatibility. I've put off Win 2K also because there are so many incompatibilities like this in multimedia.

You might ask ATI. Check the following article, which seems comprehensive. I think the principles should be the same, whether its Win 98 or 2K.

There probably beta ATi drivers available for your card. I think I'm using some for my Xpert 128. I got them off of ATi's site.

Anyway, have you tried switiching which monitor/adapter is primary in BIOS? I will assume that your GeForce is primary now. Change it to the ATi in BIOS. Don't worry, Win2K can override (and switch on the fly) the primary display.

-SUO, Savage4 PCI primary, Xpert 128 AGP secondary
