I was just helping my friend "clean up" his pc using Remote Anywhere. We ran Adaware and it found 40+ pieces of spyware which we removed. Upon rebooting he has lost his DSL connection. I can't ping him, we tried reinstalling TCP/IP, resetting the DSL modem, but no dice.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Gary

At times the Spyware Busters can eliminate files that are necessary for regular operation.

However your info is lacking!

What OS?

What kind of DSL?

PPPOE?

Network?

Router?

If he just wants to reinstall from scratch!

Log to this page it has a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Setting and Sharing.

algae, probably not what you want to hear, but your friend probably needs a reinstall. At 40+ items of spyware, his machine is probably so borked that it'll never be fully right again without a reinstall. The spyware removal tools are okay, but when you stack spyware on top of spyware, the result gets complex, and removal becomes even more complex... and eventually something's just not going to go right.

In the short-term, Ad-Aware I believe will let you undo its removals if you configured it to quarantine and save spyware.
