Problem with Dock?

Has anyone ever come across a problem where applications don't come up when you click their icon on the dock?

It used to happen to me a lot when I used Spaces, it wouldn't bring them up unless they were in the same space I was using, but now it happens even when their in the same space. Its getting quite annoying because I'm in class and switching between apps for taking notes and doing class assignments, I don't have time for my normal fix (restart).

Anyone come across this problem before? If so perhaps a fix?

Thanks in advance!

FYI: 15'' Macbook Pro, not the latest model, but the one right before. Running Snow leopard (which reminds me it happened on regular leopard as well as now after the upgrade).

Couple things:

1. How long between restarts?
2. Have you tried CMD+Tab?
3. If you're in Snow Leopard.. try clicking and holding on dock icon to bring up Expose.
4. Killall Dock and/or Killall Finder in Terminal.

I hardly ever restart my laptop, I think the only time it gets done is when I turn it off at home so I can just start it from scratch in class, other than update required restarts or severe degradation in performance.

Never tried CMD+Tab. Will try expose. Will try to Killall next time as well.
