problem with direct deposit

long time reader, second time poster...

I have had direct deposit with my employer for the last few months and everything has gone very well until this week, this week everyone at the company got an email saying there were payroll problems with direct deposit and everyone would receive a live check instead of a paystub this week. So I tell my wife to pick up my check since i work in the evening and the bank would be closed... my wife goes to online banking and finds that the check has been direct deposited already and I go to work to find a check also.... so now I have been paid with DD and I have a check too

what should I do with the live check? what would you do? the check is drawn on a non-local bank so I can't just cash it at another bank. what happens if i deposit a check like this and the company refuses to pay....?

i can imagine that the company will know that people were 'double' payed since it was a company wide email about the live checks.

If you have bills tyo pay, deposit the check. Just don't spend that potentially extra money, which your employer will probably ask to be returned.

So, deposit it, then clear things up.

If you had it deposited through DD already, then you've been paid for the hours worked. Contact payroll and ask them to check into it, and what you should do with the check, they'll tell you what to do.

you sure that DD isn't from a previous pay period? Altho, it doesn't sound like it... I know my employer is like a month behind in payouts.

I can't believe you would even feel the need to ask this...

How about you ask your boss/payroll? lol
