I just built a new computer with the DFI Lanparty mobo and so I am using the digital audio out to go to my Pioneer receiver. The sound works great in everything except for with my AverTV Studio. It has a small mini to mini cable that goes from the tv card's output to the sound card's input. When I hook it up, I don't get any sound, apparently because it isn't digital? If I hook headphones up to the speaker jack, I get sound. I know that I can run another cable from the analog speaker output to my receiver, but I hate to go through the trouble if there is another way. Any ideas? Thanks

Chances are very great that its just a plain old analog signal, and nothing you have is converting it to SPdif, so yeah you have to run both to the receiver analog and digital inputs and select which is being used for what etc...

A couple years ago when I first looked into this sort of thing I thought it was really funky that NONE of the soundcards etc fully supported SPdif digital outputs. Guess what, two years later even with $200 sound cards very little has improved, mostly the SPdif is just passed through from the DVD drive, and stuff like game sounds is only fully exploited on the analog outputs (ie SPdif might work, but its only the stereo, or maybe 3.1 signal, not the full surround 6.1 of the analog outputs that it could have.)
