hey guys, so i have my moms computer downstairs hard wired into a D-Link DI-624 wireless router.

Upstairs i have my computer which has a DWL-G510 AirPlus G 2.4ghz wireless PCI adapter.

Also upsatirs i have my laptop with a Wireless D-Link DWL-650 card.

Now my Laptop card only supports 802.11b, and always gets 11.0 mbps

But my PCI card in my computer supports 802.11g abd 802.11b but only gets 1 mbps all the time. it should be getting 54mbps if i am correct.

now my queston is, why is this?
And also, Whats the difference in Infrastructure mode and Ad-Hoc mode?
Anybody got an ideas as to why my PCI card only gets 1 mbps while my laptop card gets its suggested 11 mbps.

Both the laptop and the ocmputer are in the same room BTW

Thank you

Sounds like you multiple Mixed modes going.

Well since you have all D-Link G Products you should set the 624 and the clients in G only mode.

Also set them all in either Infrastructure or Ad-Hoc, not both.

Infrastructure is just that, a more structured Network, Ad-Hoc means anything can jump on the Network.

Check out JackMDS's links on wireless, a valuable Libray of information.
