Problem with Crysis Turbulance level

I am at the point in the level right after defending the VTOL's where you are supposed to follow them out to sea but each time I fly and get near the suspension bridge my VTOL just drops like a stone and afterburner doesn't do any good.

Ideas?
 
There are hurricanes throughout the level and cause you to get pwned and thrown the ground. Be careful of them. 😉

Yea...there is some strong wind that drops your ship but I have no clue what it was when I was up to that level. I don't hear or see anything and it seems to happen randomly. Definitely the worst level in the entire game by far. I hated flying that thing.
 
Tornadoes!

Took 3 attempts before i realized they where there. Look for a darkened ice cream cone shaped haze, and steer clear.
 
My save must be from right before hitting a tornado so I guess I will have to backup another save.
