Ok here's the setup. I had my old Dell 8600 laptop hooked up with wireless internet and i got a crossover cable going from my nic to my ps2. I shared the wireless connection and it made the nic's ip 192.168.0.1. All i had to do is setup my ps2 to automatically obtain an address and everything worked fine. Recently i sold my laptop and purchased a Dell 4700. When i tried doing the same senario, i can not get a connection with the crossover cable. Just says, no connection under my NIC. I tried using a regular ethernet cable just incase the nic translated it, but that was a no go also. Im pretty sure the laptop had a Broadcom nic and now i have an Intel Pro100 VE. Any suggestions?
