Problem with Creative Audigy2 ZS and speaker system

Hi,

I have an Audigy2 ZS and a pair of stereo speakers powered by a power amplifier. I also have an active subwoofer. These are not PC/multimedia speakers, but hifi speakers(including the sub). Anyway, the soundcard lineout is connected to the amp's L/R channels with a 1.8mm to dual RCA Y cable. The sub has 2 inputs(L/R also), and they are connected to the single center/sub plug of the soundcard.

Over in the creative audio console, I have to set Speaker type to 5.1 and CMSS 3D to "Stereo Surround" in order to get any sub signal when I'm playing mp3s and other normal stuff. However, when I watch movies with AC3 audio, I lose the center channel since it's being piped to my subwoofer. If I switch to 2.1 speaker type, I'll get the center channel, but no bass!

So my question is, how can I get both bass AND the center channel?

Thanks!

Hmm, before this set of speakers I used to have a Logitech Z-2200(or was is 2100) 2.1 PC speaker, and it worked just fine when I set it as 2.1 speaker. Just wondering why now I get no bass. I can't remember the exact connections then, it was a year ago.

There should be a tab that allows you to select "bass redirection" and a slider for frequency. Move that slider to 80 Hz or so and check the box for bass redirection.

You need the full applications installed along with the basic drivers to get to it. You need the THX window and all that crap....yes...this is why I got rid of my creative card.

Should be available on their website...if not...it will be on your CD

ugh...damn...ok i'll check it out.

Let me know if you get it working 🙂

Oh and while I am at it, you can disable the autostart of all the Creative "mediasource" crap that they install. Theres some drop down bar at the top it tries to install and such. That you don't need and can disable in msconfig. You just need the setup console:

There is a guide to the console...its probably outdated now but that's the version I remember. You can see what I am talking about in the bottom picture
