Problem with cpu I think

Hello! My brother has the following: i5 4690k, gtx 960 and I've got i7 4770k and R9 390. But in the game cs:go im getting 230 frames while he is getting 300? what could be wrong? we have same cpu clock speed.. I also tried a gtx 1080 instead of the R9 390 and I was still getting 230 frames.. btw we both use the same ingame settings.

(compared while standing next to eachother in the game with same settings)

Has my cpu gone bad?

How can your CPU go bad only enough to slow down the frame rate in a game?

Your CPU diagnosis makes no sense.

There are lots of variables that could have an effect.

But anyway, Intel has a CPU diagnostic tool that you can run:

Why don't you swap CPUs?

Since you have enough money to "try a gtx 1080", why not try a new cpu?

My parts are superiour to my brothers which would make me get more frames.. right? this is the big question why im not getting more frames im getting way less

We don't know your OS, your drivers, what your settings are, only your cpu and video card. We can't tell nuthin.

What did the Intel tool say about your CPU?

First off I would say that your framerates are almost quadrouple what they need to be, so I dont see any reason to be concerned in the slightest. If you want to match your brothers FPS for some reason, just turn on vsync.

But your CPU has hyperthreading, try disabling that and see if you "notice" a difference. CPU's generally dont randomly break unless you are overclocking it and its doing all its error correcting nonsense, which eats up cycles thus lowering frames.

EDIT - Just fired up CS:GO on my 3770K rig with HD7970 and I hold a steady 299fps, I turned on vsync (locking it to 60fps) and noticed exactly nothing different.
