problem with CM RC-690

so i just put together my comp, and i was trying out the plugs on the top. when i plug a mic into the mic jack, i have to hold it down and put pressure on for it to recognize there's a mic there. if i only plug it in and take my hand away, even though it's plugged in, it doesn't register as having something plugged in

any ideas why this might be? or what i can do to fix it?

Look carefully at the jack panel. Note that the top of the actual jack is recessed a bit. So if your mic plug grip isn't small enough to go into the panel hole a bit so the plug is fully in the jack, then you have the problem you have. If the jacks aren't well centered, you could take the bezel off the case (just some springy clips around the sides) and align the jacks with the bezel better. C-M did a poor job on that panel all-around. See my thread, search the section for- grounding -and you'll have it. So while you have the bezel off, you might want to take a whack at that project - though I've seen no reports of problems if left stock.
