Problem with burner popping out

I'm having a problem with my burner wanting to stay out. I've got a 40X CDROM as the master and my LiteOn 16X burner as the slave on one of those "faster" IDE cables with the extra pins (meant for ata 100 HD's etc... When I push the eject button to make my burner go back inside.. it stays in for a few seconds and then pops out again. Both the CDROM and burner are detected just fine in the bios. Could it be the fact that I'm using this IDE cable that is making this happen? I don't have a regular one to try it out with.
