I came to this section when I wanted to buy a new smartphone. I got some great advice and bought a Nexus 4 which I'm very happy with (other than the price drop 4 weeks after I bought it).
The problem I'm having with it is the Bluetooth keeps on failing. When I run (5 or 6 days a week) I use a BT Heart Rate Montior (HRM) and a BT headset. Ever since I got 'upgraded' to Kit Kat, during my runs I lose the connection with the headset, when I look down at my phone, I see that the BT HRM is not connected either. So, I go to my Bluetooth section and see that BT is turned off (with a message saying: Turn BT on to see available devices). When I turn on BT, it just hangs for a minute or so and then goes back to the message about turning on BT to see available devices. Typically I have to reboot the phone to get the BT to work again, so most times I just finish the run without the HRM or music. IIRC, one time it came back on it's own about 15 minutes after it stopped working.
Just yesterday, in an effort to prevent this from happening, I made sure the phone and devices were fully charged and I rebooted the phone prior to going out for my run. I also allowed all of the applications on my phone to update (Sports-Tracker, the app I use showed it had an update available). About 2.2 miles into the run, it happened. Again, I got frustrated. So, I decided to save that workout (about half of the distance I was going to run), reboot the phone and start a new workout (so I'd have the HRM data and music for the next almost 2 miles). Sure enough, 1.4 miles later it happened again. So, I need to take some sort of action.
1) Should I try and 'roll back' to the previous OS (Jelly bean?) and see if it stops happening again?
2) Should I contact Google and see if this is a common problem with Nexus 4 users?
3) Should I get my phone checked out? IOW: does the BT hardware typically fail like this?
4) Should I be asking these questions on some Kit Kat O/S forums?
As I said, I'm glad I asked here about which phone to buy. So, now I'm asking here first about what to do.
