Problem with booting up KT7-Raid

Still having problem with setting up new system. When I try to boot in BIOS it keep telling me to insert good disk. This is the first time I have booted from scratch; perhaps I am doing something wrong. Only PCI is graphics card. Floppy is installed and light stays on (????). Was told previously that cable needed flipping but that must not be the problem as I've tried it every conceiveable way. Can I boot without the floppy being connected?? Also, I had a spare floppy and tried it...no luck. CD-ROM drive also installed but there is activity on it. Just won't boot. I've checked CPU settings and they are ok. Running a Duron 800.
HDD is Maxtor 20gig, 7200, ATA100 and is installed in IDE1.
Thanks in advance and I appreciate your help to a newbie like myself.

If your floppy light is on all the time, the cable is flipped. It must be flipped at the floppy end, not at the mobo. The cable packs that ship with the ABIT mobo often have a problem with certain floppys. You have to cut the plastic lug off the connector to flip the cable. Red stripe must be on the left, looking at the pins.
