Problem with BM6 & Celery 633

I just got my Celeron 633 from Onvia today. I tried it out on an Asus P3B-F motherboard with a Iwill Slocket II, and it did 950 at 1.7v with stock heatsink/fan. Woohoo, I thought. I was using the the Asus MB to just to see if the chip could do 950 at 1.7v or less (because I heard the BM6 won't do more than 1.7v with the CeleryII). I decided to try the C633 on my board, which is the Abit BM6, rev 1.02. I pulled my C366 out and popped in the CII633. I powered on, and nothing posted to the screen. The fans and the hard drive started spinning, but nothing else happened. I pulled the CII633 out and put my C366 back in. I upgraded to the latest bios (TZ), using /CC (clear cmos). I put the CII back in. Still nothing. I know other people have gotten CeleryIIs to work in the BM6, even with revision 1.02, as long as they had the latest bios. But I am stuck. If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know.

Dude,

<< I upgraded to the latest bios (TZ), using /CC (clear cmos). >>

Is there a bios newer than TZ? I guess I might have to go with a Neo adapter. Does anyone know if wiring pins Vss, VID0, and VID1 together to increase the voltage will still work on a Neo adapter?

633's run at 1.65v default. the wiring trick may not apply to this chip, or may produce different results. just a notice. old celerons run at 1.5v

I dunno. I have the same motherboard (BM6 r.1.02) and the TZ bios and am running a C2 566 with no probs. You might want to try clearing the cmos with the jumper before powering up the system with the new cpu. (All I can think of).

Did you go into the bios and recheck your settings for the cpu? If you left them at "user defined" and left them at the same settings for your 366mhz, you could have some problems. A "NEO" adaptor is NOT NEEDED!

Killrose,

Thanks for the input. However, I did not have it set to User Define in the SoftMenu setup. And I reset the CMOS, both when I flashed the new bios, and when I cleared it using the jumper on the mobo. Maybe I have to wait for a new bios update. TZ only supports up to 600mhz. Maybe I have to wait for an update to support 633mhz.

Yeah maybe thats it, I'm not sure that bios supports the multiplier needed for 633mhz. I would assume the board still needs to support the multiplier even though the cpu is "locked" hmmm..dunno.
