problem with Audigy2 ZS and digital output

I just bought a 6-foot digital optical cable off ebay. I hooked it up to my Audigy2 ZS's optical output and then into my minidisc. I'm not getting a signal. I also looked at the end of the cable and didn't see a light (Toslink cables are supposed to have a red light, right?). I have my Audigy set to digital output and I'm playing a track, but no light and no signal. So, it's either the card or the cable. Has anyone messed with this stuff?

Also...the Audigy2 ZS DOES do digital AND coaxial optical outputs, right?

The Audigy 2 ZS digital output is coaxial, not optical. You'll need to get a coaxial to optical converter if you want optical from the card.

Yea, if it is just the ZS, you dont have an optical connection. You need the platinum pro I believe, not sure about regular platinum though.

dang, I just have the ZS. Oh well. It fits in the slot okay if that counts for anything 🙂

I did check online at Radio Shack, and they have an optical to coaxial converter for fifteen bucks, so I'd need that and a coaxial digital cable. I think I'll just stick with my analog mini-to-mini for now 🙂
