A friend of mine's having problems with this motherboard. He just bought it new and it worked fine for a day. Then, when he hooked up a new floppy drive to it the next day, it stopped booting. It hasn't worked since. When booting up, it beeps three times. However, the motherboard manual doesn't say what that means.

Anybody who has this board every have any such problems? Any suggestions about how to address this? He's tried booting with nothing but the memory, processor, video card and hard-drive. Clearing the CMOS (by removing the battery) didn't help either.

Aaahhh, thanks. My friend hears three quick, short beeps. So, it looks like a problem with the video card or memory on the video card. Will tell him to check that.

It seem odd to me that his floppy drive would cause either one of those to fail. Has he tried running the system without the floppy drive attached?

video card might have come loose, or maybe a problem with memory.

i had that happen with an Epox board once (will never buy that junk ever again)
i connected a joystick port (was external hookup only) to a 4PEA+ board and it never booted again.

i had to RMA the thing. boo-urns.

Yes, he's tried booting without the floppy drive. He's going to go buy a new video card and see if that fixes the problem. Will let you guys know.
