Hey guys,
I dunno if it's a known prob or not ... i did try to search around and no one posted about it... anyways, I benchmarked my hd on sandra and on HDTach and it only goes up to 20MB/s with a 15% CPU usage ( I did install the windows XP SP1 patch on MS's site ). I know this isn't what i should be getting ... I wanna know what I could do to improve these scores ... heck my old hd on my old ASUS P5A (Socket 7) would do around 20MB/s with as much CPU usage ...

thx for the help
Justin

I'm not certain about those scores, but it is a known issue with that board that if you use the Parallel ATA on that board you will see high CPU utilization. If you were to get a PATA=>SATA convertor and plug it into a SATA connector you should see CPU utilization go down dramatically.

But how about the fact that the hd transfer rate doesn't go over 20MB/s
and im using a new HD (Maxtor 60GIG DM9+)

Not certain about that - I would check to make sure DMA is enabled and that you do have an ATA66/100/133 cable attached to it...
