problem with ASROCK K7S41GX

I have a new ASROCK K7S41GX motherboard with an AMD Sempron 2200+ processor. I installed a western digital 80gig hard drive on the system. Now when I start up the machine, while going through its start up it doesn't find the hdd. If I go into the Bios it shows the hdd, but it won't start up. Both the mobo and hdd are brand new. I was able to get windows 2000 installed and updated to SP4, I shut if off on Thursday night and when I tried to start it up today, it doesn't see the hdd and doesn't start.

Any ideas.:Q

Welcome to the Forums khilfy 🙂 If your hard drive is on an IDE cable of its own, jumper it for Single Drive (remove the jumper from the pins and leave it off). This is just the way WD drives are. Hope that helps 🙂

Thanks,

That seems to have worked. It started up lightning fast. I'm building this system for a friend and I think I'll actually be done with it this weekend. Thanks again, and have a great weekend.
