Problem with Antec Neopower

I was running through 3D mark 03 and 05 to see what scores I would get with my new comp. Near the end of the 03 test, the warning beep started from Asus Probe. I exited out thinking it was the temps cause I was having a few problems a few days ago but found out it was the 12V rails. They dropped down to 10.5. A few seconds later the computer crashed. I have a ASUS P5P800 and a 3.6 Socket T with a X800XTPE. The Neopower is supposed to have dual rails. Is it possible all of it is only coming off of 1 rail so its overloading? Is it possible to spread it out between the 2 seperate rails?

Might be defective just send for another one. If it fails again get a new brand. Also what's the wattage? A good ps is a good ps, but it still needs watss to run.

its 480Watts but the max output is 460. I'm pretty sure that is plenty. The odd thing is that This is the first time it has happened. It didn't crash because of the rails in the past week till now.

Asus Probe could be correct, but I've seen crazy readings from it too. Check with a multimeter, that's the real thing.

So if Asus Probe was wrong, would it still auto shut down? I mean, doesn't it auto shut down because of the powersupply itself detecting it or does it shut down cause Asus Probe tells it to. And so far, I haven't had the problem again. If I do though, I'm going to call up Antec.

Bah, it just crashed again. Time to RMA it. Anyways, you guys think I should repair/get another one or just return it? If I just return the PSU, what other one do you guys recommend that I should get. It must work with the new Socket T P4's. Thanks

How long does RMAing and getting it back take? I got this from Zipzoomfly. I really don't feel like waiting a few weeks just for a power supply to come back...

You DO have the secondary ATX12V plug connected, I hope? Looks like this. Auto shutdowns can also occur due to overheat, and your CPU is a heavy hitter in the heat-production department, so try opening your case and aiming a house fan into it if your case ventilation is not so great.

Running below specs on NeoPower also.No problems here at all.
You must realize that MB sensor readings and also any SW through MB sensors are notoriously inaccurate.
My suspicion is that your sensor readings are just off and that's why you got the warning.
Get a mutlimeter and actually measure the voltages.
My Core Center by MSI and my bios give me varied readings also.MBM5 gave me more believable readings.Try that and see what you get.
If you get way out of tolerance readings using a multimeter then I'd suspect a defective PSU and RMA it o/w it's really a MB issue of having crappy sensors.

I know its not overheating. My CPU temps are in the 40s and my Motherboard temp is around 25-29. Also, I was installing MBM but since they stopped updating the program, they never got my motherboard into it. :/ Can I get a multimeter from just a reg store? And, the idle 12V rail shows up as 11.879 which I don't think is TOO bad, but under load, it just kills it lol. And yes, I have both the 24pin and 4pin cable plugged into the motherboard. Also, subhuman, do you know how it spreads out the power between the 2 12V rails? Is it possible that both the Graphics card and CPU is drawing power from 1 rail which is too much? Or does it automatically sort it out.

I also have a neopower. It reads a little under +12 but this is normal for the neopowers, not a big deal.

Also if you are using a multitap/surge protector u may may have overloaded it if u have too much plugged into it . Just a thought, u never know till u check!
