Okay, I'm building my first computer. The setup is a Raidmax Cobra case, Abit AN8 SLi mobo, 1 gig of Kingston RAM, Sapphire Raedon X800XT (Yes I know it's not SLi compatible), Athlon 64 3700+, 500W PSU.
I finally get all the stuff shipped to me after UPS delays the processor twice, and I put it all together, taking care not to fry or damage anything. Aside from the I/O shield not lining up it wouldn't seem to have any problems, it's all hooked up and ready to go at last. I hook up the power and turn on the PSU, push the power button.
I hear the whirring of fans, LEDs lighting up, the heatsink fan spinning. Then it all shuts down again. It won't run for more than a few seconds.
I take it apart, trying to figure out the problem. I find that the CPUfan power can't work with the AUX power cable plugged in, because plugging in the AUX cable makes it shut off again for a few seconds. I hook it up to the SYSfan and remove the AUX power cable, it works aside from blinking once every ten to twenty seconds. Still no picture.
I take out the graphics card and check that, doesn't affect a thing. I take out the included sound card. Nothing. I take off the processor and replace the heat transfer material. Nothing. I try a different PSU. Nothing. I end up with everything but the processor and RAM taken off and it still blinks.
I may have a bad mobo, but what do you more experienced gentlemen say I do before I go that route?
