Problem with A7M and Gf3ti200

I have an Asus A7M266 w/T-bird 1.33ghz, bios 1004. I'm currently running a Hercules TNT2Ultra vid card with no problems whatsoever.

I recently bought a Leadtek gf3 ti200 and when i popped it in, nothing happened. The fans went on (including on the card) but absolutely nothing showed up on the screen (no BIOS load, nothing). It doesn't even POST. However, my TNT2 works fine.

Thinking the card was bad, I sent it back and got a Gainward gf3ti200 instead. The exact same thing happens. I really am clueless here. Gainward's tech support had no idea. It has to be a mobo issue, the way I see it.

Oh, and it's pressed in tightly.

Any help would be much appreciated

Did you remove your drivers from the old vid card first? Also you might want to unplug a couple of other components to see if you can get it to boot. There's a good chance that the power requirements go up with the addition of the new card and the PS cannot handle it. Try reducing the load and see what happens. It is most likely NOT a MB issue though.

Yep, it was a power supply issue. I only had a 250W in there. I called Asus and they said to get a 300W. I did, and it worked right away. Thanks for your reply.

No problem, but if you have the option (under the return policy), I'd take the 300 back and get at least a 350. 300 still does not give you much headroom. I run an Enermax 350 currently.
