Hello,

I have a user who has a roaming profile (Win 2k server and the user has Windows XP). Anyways, on any machine this person uses, they end up with two profile folders in the C:\. name.DOMAIN.000 and name.DOMAIN What is the .000 profile and how do I get rid of it? Can I simply delete it or is it there for a reason? There are files/settings in the folder.

Thanks,
Lance

We run Netware 6 and have roaming profiles turned off, however I am going to take a stab at this. I know in XP if you delete a user, then recreate one with the same name you end of with two profiles. Perhaps it is something like that?

My other suggestion is MS Tech Net, pretty good knowledgebase there.

Yeah, you can delete profiles on the local XP machine all day. The next time the user logs in, they will get whatever is on the network. Be aware, however -- that if the user saved something locally (say on the desktop) and did not get a proper logoff, that file will NOT be on the network and will be gone forever. I would rename the profiles to user.000.old and user.domain.old. Have the user login, and the network profile will download to the machine. If after a week the user has no complaints and doesn't seem to be missing anything, you can delete the .old profiles off the XP machine.
