Do you have to log in to your service?

You may need to have the router log in to the cable service.

It can be done through the router administration page. If you don't know, log in using your web browser at 192.168.0.1 The default is login: admin password: Password

There are very complete help screens explaining all the options on the 814's administration pages.

What Operating System are you running on your computer? Is this DSL or Cable? The cable from the DSL/Cable modem should be plugged into the WAN port on the router. Another cable should be plugged in one of the Lan ports on the router and the other end to the Nic Card on the PC. Then you should be able to open your Web Browser and enter http://192.168.0.1 for most routers and get to the routers Admin page. Like the other member here said the username is admin and the password is password.

Again is it DSL or Cable? Most DSL's have to be logged on to and set up in the router with username/password to connect to the DSL connection. A little more info about your OS and type of Internet connection will be helpfull.

Ok, is your Netgear MR814 hooked up like I mentioned in my other message? If so can you open IE and input 19.2.168.0.1 and have the router logon page come up? If you can do that enter admin for the username and password for the password. Since you using DSL you probably have to set the router to login to your DSL account with username and password. I take it your DSL requires you to login? If so on the main router page check the yes box for your connection requires a login. then select other for the internet service provider Then enter the username and password that your DSL requires to login. If your DSL does not require a login since I have only worked with DSL that does, I am not sure what you would enter.

The first thing you need to do is try to login to the router. If you can not something is plugged in wrong or maybe the windows firewall is turned on. Let us know what happens when you try to login to the router.
