Problem with a Logitech Optical Mouse

I just bought a Logitech Optical Mouse Model Number M-BJ58. When I first plug it in, it works fine but then after a certain amount of time it suddenly stops and then windows says it detected new hardware "USB Device" but then it gives and error message that says "The Data is Invalid" and then I hit OK and the Found New Hardware thingy comes back up and then the error message comes back. This keeps going forever. The only way to make the mouse work is to reboot, but then the same problem comes back after a short period of time.

I think i had the same problem w/ a microsoft optical. I found out i had broken the contact in the front of the mouse through overuse I guess. Could be that, perhaps.

FMJGomerPyle what OS and board do you have?...There is a USB fix for Win98SE with AMD CPUs and Via boards.More info on it
