I bought my son a 19" Hanns-G LCD as part of his Xmas gifts in Dec 06 (IIRC). I got it from Woot and Woot did refund me $100 when the rebate house went belly-up (Mad Props to Woot!).
I recently swapped out my sons old Gigabyte AGP Mobo and his AGP 6600 GT for a MSI Mobo (PCI-e and AGR slots) and a PCI-e X1650 Pro. From time to time he gets red and green lines and dots on his desktop (I don't think this has EVER happened in a 3D game). IIRC some of them 'flutter' or 'blink'. I unplugged and replugged the DVI cable at the Video card when it first happened and it cleared up. When it happened again I assumed maybe the DVI cable was bad.
While playing around, I have found that by turning off the monitor and then turning it on again (maybe one second later) the problem goes away for a while. I will mention that if I take a screenshot when the problem is there, when I paste the screen shot into Paint, it looks normal (I'd think that would eliminate a driver, O/S, viruse, etc.. problem).
I think I have another DVI cable around here somewhere (from some HP 19" LCD's we got at work). If I can find it, I will swap that one in and see if it happens anymore. Should I try blowing out the back of the Monitor with some Compressed air? I would'nt think it is a temperature problem since I can turn the monitor back on in one second and it goes away. IIRC, the monitor only had a 1-year warranty.
Any suggestions?
