Problem with 9800GX2, boots my computer

Hello everyone. I have a sudden problem with my computer rebooting all by itself. After much time and troubleshooting I narrowed the problem down to my 9800GX2. I can only use my computer with XP's generic drivers. When I install the latest drivers the computer will not boot into the desktop, it reboots over and over again. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What sort of power supply do you have? Did this problem just start recently or did you just buy this video card? It could be insufficient power to the card. Confirm the fan is spinning on the card, all needed pci-e power cables are plugged into it, and also check the temperatures of the card using rivatuner (or realtemp).

Thanks for the replys. The problem just started with no warning. I've had the card for about two years now for a totally new system:
Asus Maximum II Formula MB
E8500 CPU
4 g of ram
4 hds, from raptors to veliciraptors
1000 Watt BFG power supply
Anybody heard of or had this same problem before?

If I was you I'd try to find some legacy drivers and see if it an issue with the new ones specifically or if your card is jacked up physically.

Well, the problem started on my computer with old drivers to begin with. I did not install anything when it started to reboot by itself. One thing I remember, is I got the blue screen of death first with paragraphs I could not read because it went away too fast. Then I could never get back into the desktop except in safe mode.
