Problem with 9600 Pro

I just bought a new ATI 9600 Pro 256MB card. Installed the latest Radeon drivers and everything seemed to work fine, but whenever I try to play a game I get all these crazy colors (Is this called artifacting? I'm ignorant when it comes to this kind of stuff). So far I've tried it on Doom 3 and on Call of Duty, both at the very lowest settings. I'm running it on a system with a P4 2.4C and 512 RAM. Also, I used the Driver Cleaner utility to clean out all of my old drivers before installing the new ones.

Can anyone tell me what might be causing this? Is it the drivers? Bad card? Any help would be appreciated.
