Problem with 5.1 Speakers on anything Online

I bought these Speakers about a year ago and have had some problems with them. Whenever I try to watch / listen to anything online via Youtube, Veoh, etc. The sound is always really quiet, and usually only the center speaker works. This was solved by simply increasing the volume on the speakers momentarily, and the other speakers would jump and turn on. However lately this hasn't been working and whenever I view anything online it only plays out of my center speaker. Doing anything else (Winamp, WMP, etc), shows no problems with all 5 speakers.

Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Thanks.

I can think of two things. First, if the source is producing monaural sound, that is what you get. Second, many sound producing sites have their own loudness control somewhere on screen. I frequently listen to XM radio on line, and it is that way.
