Problem with 3com Gigabit NIC 3C2000

Hi guys, I have a NIC 3C2000 network card that came onboard with my Asus P4P800 deluxe. I have cable modem at my place that I'm sharing with 4 other guys. The DL speeds are great, like 1 mb/s when i did a line speed test. The problem I'm having is that I lose my internet connection about twice a day. It would suddenly go out and I can't get it back without restarting. And that's becoming a big pain in the ass. Running the NIC doctor doesn't work at all because it just hangs. If anyone has some ideas I would like to hear them

Try updating the drivers. I have seen similiar trouble from bad drivers...Could also be a marginal cable.

I tried updating the drivers, only to get a hang when I tried to install them. I don't think its the network cables because I've tried 2 different sets and its the same.

Sounds like your NIC drivers, but are your friends having any issues? What type of switch/router are you using? The problem could be the ISP sharing device. I had the same problem before when I had a D-Link 704 router. Turned out to be the router after some hard testing (downloaded close to 5 gigs worth of data to test on 3 different machines.) The other machines started having the problem as well.
