problem while booting windows

hdeck

Lifer
ok so my friend's computer has been running fine until today. he tried to boot today and got the following:

"verifying DMI pool data' then says invalid disk. replace it then press any key"

or something along those lines. i can't physically check the computer out so does anyone have any suggestions?

i know this would sound stupid but in just in case...

your friend did pull out any floppy that is in the computer right?

just making sure...

i think i've seen that line before.... don't quote me on this but... bad sector on the hard drive possibly?

good luck

that was the first thing i asked was if there was a floppy in there. unfortunately there wasn't =\

even worse is he doesn't know anything about computers

my next guess is would be he installed a new IDE drive. i was trying to trigger cable select yesterday on 2 of my optical drives and windows does not boot and show some message like that. switch the drives to master/slave if that is the case

hope that helps
