Problem when trying to install Win XP *UPDATE*SECOND PROBLEM*

Ok, so I'm tyring to install windows XP on my parents computer. Its an older HP (blah) but we just bought a new hard drive and I'm trying to put it on that. So I start up off the CD and it copies over all the installation files fine. Then it restarts and it says press a button to read of CD (I don't since I've already been through that step) then it gives me the error message

NTLDR is missing
Press any key to restart

and it does this everytime. Any idea what the problem is or what I can do to fix it?

Yeah, I´ve seen that too. I didn´t have that "...press a button to read of CD" - message, but it kept telling me to press a key to reboot. But we managed to solve it. Prior to the installation attemt we´d created a second partition on the harddrive. I can´t understand why, but after deleting that extra partition and formating the entire harddrive once again the installation succeeded!

Good luck!

Take the installation cd out of the drive and reboot, should solve your problem.

Well, I had that problem before, and it was happening because the installation cd was still in the drive, /shrug

ok so I got that first problem fixed by just formating the drive that was causing the problem... now I'm finally to the actual screen where its installing the files. It starts at 39 minutes left till installed and gets to about 34-35 minutes and then freezes. The screen goes black except where the mouse is there is a little block of the window showing. It was in the part of "installing devices" about 60% of the way throught that. WTF happened. I tried restarting and running it again but it did the same exact thing?!?!?!

HELP!?!?!?

Sounds like Windows XP installation found a piece of hardware it doesn't like.

Here are some things to try: (in no order)

- Try pulling all your cards out of the computer expect for the video card.
- Set your BIOS options to default or fail safe.

I had problems installing XP in a few computers.I was the video card in 3 out of 4 of them.I had to put a old tnt card in until I installed it,then change out cards after the install.

Ok, it could be my video card. There is a ATI Rage Pro thats embedded into the motherboad. If I put in a newer TNT2 and changed the jumpers do you think that would work?

Being embedded in the motherboard, probably not, but it wouldn`t hurt to try.My problem cards were a GF3 TI 500 and asus 7100 on iwill boards.
