Problem when copying IWD gamesaves from 98 box to Win2000 box

I've got a bunch of Icewind Dale game saves. I loaded IWD to my new computer with Windows 2000. I copy the game save to the Mplayer folder. I go into the game and select that gamesave but it errors out every time. I can create new gamesaves within the game, but no copy them in. I've done this in the past between gaming buddies. Any idea why?
